Please refer to Comment #8 under “The End of Animal Farm”. We would like to discuss the final scene where the pigs and humans merge. Maybe reread this passage and think about it in a different way!
Think of it as a metaphor. Consider why Mr. Orwell would have wanted his hard-hitting and thought-provoking book, Animal Farm, to end like this? What is the significance of the onlookers in this mergence? Think about the irony of the situation. How does Mr. Orwell use this to relate to history?..and finally consider the emotions connected to this horrid ending.
For those of you who have finished the book, we would like to discus the significance of the events in the last chapter. What impression are you left with after the final scene? Is this what you expected? What do you foresee happening to Animal Farm in years to come?
**Note** If you have not finished reading, DO NOT read this discussion-it will ruin it for you!!!!
If you look to the right under blogroll you will see a new link. This is very helpful because it has the entire Animal Farm book on it. So if you can’t remember a certain passage or point, you may stop there and find what you need. There is also a search on there for the book if you’re looking for a certain word and such. Hope this helps and thank you so much for your input!
P.S.- You will have to click on Orwell, George once you go there. =)
So you have it. Start posting your ideas on your favorite discussions, it’ll be great to hear from some one other than ourselves!
Welcome to our blog. Post your thoughts and ideas about the book animal farm and communism. Let’s discuss the topic of the windmill. So what do you think? Should they try to build it, why or why not?
I know many are excited by the connections they have made and are eager to share their discoveries. So now you can! Please tell us your thoughts on which characters represent leaders in history? Which significant events related to the Soviet Union? How does Animal Farm display their Communist-like society? Really anything you have connected between Animal Farm and Communism!!
It started out as a perfect society. All the animals worked hard, supported each other, and enjoyed their freedom. What do you think was the turning point in the book? What happened?
Here’s a place to post your thoughts on Animal Farm. What was the significance of the windmill being destroyed, the actions of Napolean, or commandments being changed?
Also for those who have finished the book, what’s some of the symbolism and irony that Orwell has weaved into the story? What do you think the end signifies?
